Compliance FAQ

Do I need an FMCSA PIN to update MCS-150?

No. FMCSA no longer uses a USDOT PIN. Since Motus opened on May 19, 2026 (legacy systems were retired May 14), you sign in with Login.gov and link your USDOT number to your account.

Why does it matter?

FMCSA's legacy registration systems used a PIN issued at carrier registration. FMCSA retired it when the Motus registration system (motus.dot.gov) replaced the legacy URS portal on May 14, 2026.

To update the MCS-150 yourself: create a free Login.gov account, sign in at motus.dot.gov, and link your USDOT number to your account. Once linked, the MCS-150 update is filed in Motus.

If you would rather not set up Login.gov yourself, a filing service can help. We prepare your MCS-150 update; it is submitted to FMCSA in Motus by you or a filer you authorize.

Carriers with a deactivated USDOT number use the same Login.gov sign-in in Motus to file the fresh MCS-150.
