How much does MCS-150 cost to file?

There is no FMCSA fee for MCS-150. The form is free whether you file it yourself directly with FMCSA or pay a service to prepare it. The "cost" of MCS-150 is purely the service fee charged by the filing provider.

Self-filing runs through Motus at motus.dot.gov with a Login.gov sign-in (Motus replaced the legacy L&I and URS systems in May 2026). FMCSA no longer uses a USDOT PIN. Carriers without a working Login.gov sign-in either set one up and link their USDOT number to their account, or pay a service to prepare the update.

Filing services set their own fees, and the FMCSA fee stays $0 either way.
