DataQs challenge filing
File a DataQs challenge for an inaccurate FMCSA record
DataQs is FMCSA's system for requesting review of inspection or crash data you believe is wrong. FMCSA charges no fee. We prepare and submit the request with your evidence on your behalf. We cannot promise a result; the state or FMCSA decides.

How it works
We prepare and file it for you. We file through our own DataQs account, so you do not need a login of your own. Before we file, the carrier signs a written authorization and sends us:
- A signed written authorization for us to file on your behalf
- Your USDOT number
- The inspection report number or crash number, and its date
- The state where the inspection or crash happened
- What is wrong with the record, in a sentence or two
- Supporting documents (reports, court dispositions, photos, video, logs)
We ask for no driver personal information beyond what the request needs. The State or FMCSA then reviews the request and decides. We do not guarantee outcomes or timing. Filing fails on us? Re-filed free.
DataQs questions
How long does a DataQs review take?
Your State must decide the Initial Review within 21 days (the clock pauses if it asks you for more information). You can then request Reconsideration (21 days) and Final Review (45 days), each within 30 days of the prior decision. If the State asks for more information you have 14 days to respond. These stages apply to requests under FMCSA's rules effective September 18, 2026. We do not guarantee outcomes or timing.
What does a DataQs request cost?
The government fee is $0. FMCSA does not charge for DataQs requests. Our fee for preparing and submitting the request is $45 flat per request.
What evidence helps a DataQs request?
Evidence that shows the record is wrong: the inspection report or crash report, a court disposition showing a citation was dismissed, photos or dashcam video, ELD or log records, and documents showing the vehicle or driver was not yours on that date (a lease, bill of sale or registration). Send what you have and we will tell you what the request still needs.
Can you guarantee the violation or crash will be removed?
No. The State or FMCSA reviews the request and decides the result. We prepare and submit a complete request with your evidence, but we do not guarantee outcomes or timing.
Who files the DataQs request?
We do, on your behalf, through our own DataQs account. You sign a written authorization first, and you do not need to create a login of your own.
What do you need from me?
A signed written authorization, your USDOT number, the inspection report number or crash number and its date, the state, a short description of what is wrong, and your supporting documents. We ask for no driver personal information beyond what the request needs.
Ready to challenge a record?
Order online with the report number and what is wrong. After payment we email you the authorization to sign, and you reply with your documents.
