Compliance FAQ
How fast can an MC be reactivated after revocation?
It depends on the cause and on FMCSA. Once the cause is cured (insurance filing on record, BOC-3 on file, penalties paid), the reinstatement request can be submitted to FMCSA, and FMCSA controls how long its review takes. Safety-related revocations and failed new-entrant audits take longer because corrective action has to be done and reviewed by FMCSA first.

Why does it matter?
Insurance-lapse revocation: bind coverage and have the insurer file the BMC-91 or BMC-91X with FMCSA, then pay the $80 FMCSA reinstatement fee (49 CFR §360.3T(f)(52)) and submit the reinstatement request. FMCSA controls the timing of its review.
BOC-3 lapse revocation: have a registered process-agent provider file a new BOC-3 with FMCSA, then submit the reinstatement request with the $80 fee.
Safety-related revocations (an Unsatisfactory rating or a failed new-entrant audit): the carrier documents corrective action for each cited deficiency and FMCSA reviews it (49 CFR 385.17, 385.319). FMCSA controls how long that review takes.
For revocations stemming from several compliance gaps at once, the recovery path may require fixing each issue before the reinstatement can go through. Carriers in this situation may want an experienced compliance consultant or transportation attorney to coordinate the work.
FMCSA reinstates operating authority, or lifts an out-of-service order, only after the cause is cured (for example, insurance or a BOC-3 back on file, or a civil penalty paid) and it reviews the request. FMCSA controls that decision and its timing; no filing service can promise that authority will be reinstated.
Start your reinstatement request
We prepare your reinstatement request; it is submitted to FMCSA by you or a filer you authorize. FMCSA charges an $80 fee to reinstate revoked MC operating authority (49 CFR 360.3T). For MC reinstatement, our $220 service fee and the $80 FMCSA fee are itemized as two separate amounts before you pay ($300 total). DOT out-of-service reinstatement is a $200 service fee with no FMCSA fee.
