UCR December 31 Deadline
Also known as: UCR Deadline, UCR Due Date

Definition
The December 31 deadline is the practical deadline for UCR: carriers should complete the upcoming year's registration by December 31, because the participating states enforce that registration year from January 1. Registration for a UCR year opens on or about October 1 of the year before and is due by December 31 of the year before; enforcement of the new year starts January 1. The 2027 registration, for example, is due by December 31, 2026. UCR has no statutory grace period, and there is no separate federal late penalty: a late filer pays the same bracket fee, and the consequences of operating without it are set by each state.
