UCR Late Filing
Also known as: Missed UCR Deadline, Late UCR
By Korey Sharp-Paar · Reviewed by the Fast Trucking Compliance team
Definition
UCR late filing means filing UCR after enforcement begins on January 1. UCR has no statutory grace period, so any operation in the new year before the fee is paid is non-compliant. There is no separate federal late penalty - the carrier pays the same bracket fee. Enforcement is by the participating states, and the consequences are set by each state. Registration for a UCR year opens on or about October 1 of the year before and is due by December 31 of the year before, so filing in that window keeps a carrier from ever being late.
