Also known as: UCR Year

By Korey Sharp-Paar · Reviewed by the Fast Trucking Compliance team

Definition

The UCR registration year is the January 1 to December 31 year a UCR filing covers. Registration for a UCR year opens on or about October 1 of the year before and is due by December 31 of the year before; enforcement of the new year starts January 1. A 2026 UCR filing, for example, became enforceable on January 1, 2026, and the 2027 registration is due by December 31, 2026. UCR is a per-year obligation: each new year requires a fresh filing and fee. A carrier that becomes subject to UCR partway through a year owes the full bracket fee, with no proration.
