Suspended Authority
Also known as: Authority Suspension

Definition
Suspended authority is operating authority that FMCSA has temporarily blocked, short of full revocation. It cannot be used to haul for hire while the suspension stands. Curing the triggering issue usually restores it without a new application, but the carrier may not operate in the meantime. FMCSA’s public record, searched by USDOT number or company name in Motus, shows whether the authority is active, suspended or revoked. FMCSA decides when the status changes back, after the cause is cured and it reviews the record.
