USDOT PIN

Also known as: DOT PIN, FMCSA PIN, Lost PIN

By Korey Sharp-Paar · Reviewed by the Fast Trucking Compliance team

Definition

The USDOT PIN was the legacy personal identification number FMCSA used to authenticate online filings, including the MCS-150. FMCSA retired the PIN along with its legacy registration systems on May 14, 2026, and its Motus registration system (motus.dot.gov) opened on May 19, 2026. Sign-in now uses Login.gov: a carrier signs in and links its USDOT number to its account. A carrier that cannot find an old PIN does not need one to file a current MCS-150 update; getting into Motus is now a Login.gov account question.
