UCR Mid-Year Filing

Also known as: New-Entrant UCR, Mid-Year Registration

By Korey Sharp-Paar · Reviewed by the Fast Trucking Compliance team

Definition

UCR mid-year filing means filing UCR for the current registration year after it has already opened - typically a new carrier that obtained authority partway through the year. There is no proration: a carrier that becomes subject to UCR mid-year owes the full bracket fee for that year, with no discount for the remaining months. The next year's registration then follows the normal October-to-December window. The bracket fee is the same in every state and is paid through one base state, and brokers and forwarders with new authority file in the 0–2 bracket.
